Tina in Tel Aviv - Gerade angekommen/Just arrived!
Hallo mitanand!
Was tun?
Also die erste Nacht ins hostel!
hi guys! and here it comes, the first article ever!
Last thursday me and christine arrived in tel aviv.and what do they tell you first when you go to israel? don't use public transportation and stay out of big shopping malls! and guess where we ended up the first hour in israel? of course:in public transportation and in a big shopping mall...where we actually didn't intend to go shopping but were searching for a cab.....
after we finally managed to get to the next bigger crossroad close to our appartement ("the cabdrivers don't know the adress.."), with the help of a frank sinatra-singing cab-driver, who all the time stopped to ask people for the way, and by using a description of our landlady, we tried to follow her rather biblical explanations to find the appartement and the guy, who was supposed to have the key ("and on the end of the way you will find...")...we found nothing! key and appartement were not to find in the crowdy chaos-area of jaffa-bazar...what to do?after three hours of questioning every single antiquities-dealer, carmechanic and fast-food-restaurant-waiter in whole jaffa, we finally discovered the appartement...(and had our stomachs full of tea...) halleluja! but the guy with the key was still a fata morgana , supposed to materialize the next day...maybe....
so, we spent the first night in a hostel...and on the evening we went to the beach, only two minutes away...:)
rrrrreallly nice!
the next morning the key fata morgana became true, we found the guy! and moved into the flat, that is now home for us for the next three weeks: very interesting way of using the space, an old shop in the middle of the bazar, some nice small black smiling flatmates.....coqroaches that know how to shake hands! i don't know what they eat, still, but they seem to be quite friendly...
weather here is like out of a children's picture book, issued by center parcs "where the sun shines...always...24 hours..." edition:
sun, sun, blue sky, sun, sun...
on sunday we had our first working day with kav la'oved, the organisation christine and i work for...but about that next time.for now just this piece of info: they have aircondition! :)
greetings tina
